In many families, the mask is still prepared before special occasions, often supplemented with honey, argan oil, or rosewater, depending on what the household has on hand.
Ghassoul gently cleanses the scalp without completely stripping its natural oils, and regulates excess sebum. Honey draws moisture into the hair, giving it suppleness, while argan oil provides the lengths with fatty acids and vitamin E, ensuring shine. Together, this creates a treatment that cleanses and nourishes at the same time — the exact opposite of harsh deep-cleansing shampoos.
Why this combination works: Ghassoul removes excess oil and residue without drying out the scalp. Honey and argan oil balance this by providing moisture and making the hair supple. Ingredients
For one application (shoulder-length to medium-length hair):
3 tablespoons EVARGANA Ghassoul Powder
1 tablespoon liquid honey
1 teaspoon argan oil (for dry hair, feel free to use 2 teaspoons)
4–6 tablespoons warm water or rosewater, add slowly
A glass or ceramic bowl and a wooden spoon — no metal, as it reacts with the minerals in ghassoul
Step-by-Step Instructions
Mix Ghassoul: Put the powder in the bowl and slowly, spoon by spoon, stir in warm water or rosewater until a smooth, yogurt-like paste with no lumps forms.
Incorporate honey & oil: Stir in honey and argan oil until the mixture is evenly shiny and feels creamy.
Apply: Apply the mask to dry or slightly damp hair, starting at the scalp, then distributing it through the lengths and ends.
Massage in & leave on: Gently massage the scalp for 2–3 minutes with your fingertips, then tie up your hair or wrap it in a warm towel and leave it on for 15–20 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly: Rinse with plenty of lukewarm water until no residue is felt. Ghassoul doesn't lather like shampoo — that's normal. If needed, follow with a mild, natural conditioner.
Ghassoul can corrode metal pipes over time — it's best to rinse it off over a bowl or in the shower with a clear drain, rather than in the bathtub.

Frequency: Once a week for oily roots, every 2 weeks for dry or color-treated hair
Dry hair: Reduce the amount of water and use more argan oil for a richer consistency
Oily scalp: Omit honey and instead mix with a little more rosewater
First application: The transition period away from silicone shampoos can take 2–3 washes until the hair gets used to the natural cleansing
Storage: Do not store mixed paste — mix fresh for each application
For extra shine after rinsing, spray the lengths with a spritz of rosewater and let air dry.
