Beldi Soap with Nila: The Brightening Preparation for Kessa Exfoliation
The black olive soap is applied as usual — but enriched with the blue gold of the Sahara. The result: a noticeably easier Kessa exfoliation and a brighter, more even complexion.
Beldi soap is the essential first step in the Moroccan hammam before any exfoliation — it is applied to the skin as usual to soften calluses and allow the Kessa glove to glide effortlessly. If you want an additional brightening effect, simply mix some Nila into the soap instead of using it pure. The actual process remains unchanged — it's not a separate mask that you apply and leave on like a facial treatment, but simply the familiar Beldi soap, enriched with blue indigo powder from the Sahara.
The reason this combination is so effective: In the warm, steamy air of the hammam, pores open, and Beldi soap, with its high oleic acid content, softens the outermost layer of dead skin — this is precisely what makes the subsequent exfoliation with the Kessa glove so much easier. Nila solely takes on the brightening, complexion-refining task and absorbs in the same time the soap is on the skin anyway.
Important to know: This is not a face or body mask to be left on separately, but regular Beldi soap enriched with Nila. Its purpose remains the same as pure Beldi soap: to soften calluses enough for dead skin cells to easily detach during Kessa exfoliation — Nila additionally provides a brighter, more even complexion.

Step-by-Step Guide
Open pores: Set the shower to hot, or soak in a warm bath for a few minutes until your skin is pleasantly warm and soft.
Mix Beldi soap with Nila: Put the hammam portion of Beldi soap into the bowl, sprinkle the Nila powder over it, and stir in the tablespoon of hot water. This makes the soap much easier and more evenly mixed with the powder, until a homogeneous, deep blue-green soap is formed — just normal Beldi soap, only colored.
Apply as usual: Generously spread the colored soap with your hands over all damp skin — arms, legs, back, stomach. Just like with pure Beldi soap, only enriched with Nila.
Leave on: Leave on for 5–10 minutes, preferably in a warm, steamy bath, so that the pores remain open.
Kessa exfoliation: Only now, reach for the Kessa glove and exfoliate the skin in long strokes. This is where the true purpose of the preparation becomes clear: the softened calluses now peel off noticeably easier and more thoroughly than without the soap.
Rinse & moisturize: Rinse thoroughly with warm water, pat dry, and finish with argan oil or a rich moisturizer.
Hot water is the key to mixing — Nila only mixes unevenly with tough Beldi soap when cold, forming clumps.
Application Tips
Frequency: Once a week for normal to oily skin, every 10–14 days for dry or sensitive skin
Observe the order: Always apply Beldi soap with Nila before Kessa exfoliation, never after — otherwise, the softening preparation will be absent, and exfoliation will be more difficult
Blue residue: Nila can slightly stain skin and towels blue — this is normal and washes off without leaving a trace. It's best to use an older towel
Sensitive skin: Shorten the application time to 3–5 minutes and apply less pressure during Kessa exfoliation
Mix fresh: Do not store the colored soap — mix fresh with hot water for each application
For the full hammam experience: After Kessa exfoliation, apply a Ghassoul mask to close open pores and replenish minerals.
