A Letter to You

Welcome, Beautiful Soul

"You are about to discover what Moroccan women have known for centuries — that true beauty is a ritual, not a routine."

Long before the age of serums and skincare routines, women across Morocco gathered in steaming, candlelit bathhouses to cleanse — not just their skin, but their spirit. The Hammam was their sanctuary. A place of community, of silence, of deep self-care.

This eBook is our gift to you. We want to bring that ancient magic into your bathroom, your routine, and your life — with the finest natural Moroccan ingredients, carefully selected by Evargana.

Whether you have 20 minutes or an entire afternoon, the Hammam ritual meets you where you are. There is no wrong way to care for yourself.

The Evargana Promise

"Every product we create carries the wisdom of Moroccan tradition and the purity of nature. No compromises. Just radiant, glowing skin — and a soul that feels at peace."

Chapter One

The Soul of the
Hammam

A 1,000-year tradition of beauty, community & cleansing

The Hammam is more than a bathhouse. It is a ritual passed down through generations — a weekly ceremony of shedding what no longer serves you.

Originating in the ancient Roman and Byzantine bathing traditions, the Hammam was perfected in North Africa and the Islamic world over a thousand years ago. In Morocco, it became woven into the fabric of daily life — a place where women gathered every week to cleanse, care for one another, and connect.

The word "Hammam" (حمّام) means "spreader of warmth" in Arabic. And warmth is precisely what it offers — warmth of steam, warmth of touch, and the warmth of belonging to a long lineage of women who understood that caring for yourself is sacred, not selfish.

The Three Pillars of Hammam

Heat — Steam opens the pores and softens the skin, preparing it for deep cleansing. Exfoliation — The Kessa mitt removes dead skin cells, revealing radiant new skin beneath. Nourishment — Natural oils, Ghassoul clay, and Argan oil restore moisture and glow.

Unlike modern skincare — which often feels clinical and transactional — the Hammam is an experience. It asks you to slow down, to breathe, to be present in your body. In a world that moves too fast, this is perhaps its greatest gift.

"The Hammam does not just cleanse the skin — it cleanses the mind. You step out transformed."

Chapter Three

The Art of the Ritual —
Step by Step

Your complete guide to an authentic Hammam experience at home

The traditional Hammam follows a precise sequence. Each step builds on the last, preparing the skin and the senses for the next.

1

Prepare & Warm

Begin by creating warmth and steam. Close the bathroom door and run a hot shower for 5–10 minutes before entering. This allows the steam to build and softens your skin. Drink a large glass of water before you begin — hydration is essential.

Light a candle or add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the shower floor for an aromatic steam experience.

2

Steam & Open

Sit in the warm steam for 10–15 minutes. Allow the heat to open your pores completely. Breathe deeply. Let your mind slow down. This is the moment of transition — from the outside world to your inner sanctuary.

Use this time to apply Ghassoul clay mask to your face. Let it work while you steam.

3

Apply Beldi Soap

Apply the traditional black Beldi soap generously all over your body, avoiding the face. Leave it on for 5–7 minutes. The olive-based soap will soften the top layer of dead skin, preparing it to be lifted away by the Kessa mitt.

Apply in circular motions and focus on rough areas like elbows, knees, and heels.

4

Exfoliate with the Kessa

This is the heart of the Hammam. Wet the Kessa mitt and begin exfoliating in firm, long strokes from the top of your body downward. You will see dead skin rolling away — this is completely normal and deeply satisfying. Be gentle on sensitive areas.

Exfoliate for 10–15 minutes. Rinse well with lukewarm water between passes.

5

Rinse & Cleanse

Rinse away all Beldi soap and dead skin with warm water. Follow with a thorough cleanse using a gentle natural body wash or additional Beldi soap to ensure the skin is completely clean and free of residue.

6

Nourish with Argan Oil

While the skin is still slightly damp and the pores are open, apply pure Argan oil all over the body. Massage in circular motions. The freshly exfoliated skin will absorb every drop of nourishment. You will glow.

For the face, use a lighter hand — 2–3 drops of Argan oil on clean, damp skin is enough to transform your complexion.

7

Rest & Restore

The final and most important step — rest. Wrap yourself in a warm towel, lie down, and let your body adjust. The Hammam ritual is intense. Give yourself at least 15–20 minutes of stillness before returning to your day. Drink water and breathe.

This is your moment. A cup of Moroccan mint tea makes the perfect companion.

Chapter Four

Your Home
Hammam Setup

Creating the perfect atmosphere for your ritual

You don't need a marble bathhouse. You need intention, warmth, and the right tools.

The authentic Moroccan Hammam experience is less about space and more about atmosphere and sequence. A simple bathroom can become a sanctuary — with a few thoughtful additions.

Your Hammam Essentials Checklist

  • Kessa exfoliation mitt (rough side for body, soft side for sensitive skin)
  • Authentic Beldi black soap — unscented, natural
  • Ghassoul clay (loose or as a ready-made mask)
  • Pure cold-pressed Argan oil
  • Rose water or orange blossom water for toning
  • Large, fluffy hammam towel (fouta) or bath sheet
  • Natural wooden bath stool or bath mat
  • Candles — beeswax or natural soy
  • Essential oils: eucalyptus, rose, cedarwood
  • A glass of water or Moroccan mint tea

The atmosphere matters. Dim the lights, light a candle, and play soft music — traditional Moroccan Gnawa music, or simply ambient sounds of nature. The ritual begins before you even touch the water.

Important Precautions

Do not perform the Hammam ritual if you are pregnant, have cardiovascular issues, or suffer from severe skin conditions without consulting your doctor first. The heat and exfoliation are intense — always listen to your body and stop if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable.

Chapter Six

The Benefits —
Body, Mind & Soul

Why the Hammam has endured for over a thousand years

The Hammam is not a luxury. It is an investment in your total wellbeing — one that pays dividends in glowing skin, calm nerves, and a deeply rested body.

Radiant Skin

Removes months of built-up dead skin. Reveals fresh, luminous skin underneath.

🫁

Deep Cleansing

Steam opens pores to their core. Beldi soap draws out impurities, blackheads, and toxins.

💧

Deep Hydration

Freshly exfoliated skin absorbs Argan oil completely, achieving long-lasting moisture.

🧠

Stress Relief

The ritual triggers the parasympathetic nervous system — deep rest at a cellular level.

🩸

Circulation Boost

Heat and massage increase blood flow, reducing muscle tension and improving lymph drainage.

🌙

Better Sleep

The deep relaxation induced by the Hammam is known to dramatically improve sleep quality.

🦷

Even Skin Tone

Regular exfoliation fades hyperpigmentation, scars, and uneven texture over time.

🌿

Detoxification

Sweating in steam is one of the body's most efficient pathways for eliminating toxins.

How Often Should You Do the Hammam?

Traditionally, the Hammam was performed once a week. For best results, we recommend a full ritual every 1–2 weeks. Between sessions, the Kessa can be used 2–3 times per week in the shower for maintenance exfoliation.

Chapter Seven

Hammam for
Every Season

Adapting your ritual to the rhythm of the year

The Hammam ritual is not static — it evolves with the seasons, just as your skin's needs change throughout the year.

🌸

Spring

The Great Awakening

After winter, the skin is thirsty for renewal. Focus on deep exfoliation to shed the dull winter layer. Use brightening ingredients like turmeric and saffron. Incorporate rose water for a fresh, floral energy. This is the season of rebirth — let your skin reflect it.

☀️

Summer

Light & Cooling

In the heat of summer, shorten the steam phase and cool the water slightly. Use cooling ingredients like cucumber and peppermint in your masks. Focus on hydration after sun exposure. Ghassoul clay is ideal for controlling summer oiliness.

🍂

Autumn

Nourish & Repair

As temperatures drop, the skin begins to lose moisture. Increase the steam time and focus on deeply nourishing oils — Argan, rosehip, and sweet almond. Use warming spices like cinnamon and ginger in body scrubs. Prepare your skin for the cold months ahead.

❄️

Winter

Deep Warmth

The most important season for the Hammam. Long steam sessions, rich oils, and warming honey masks are your allies. Use cedarwood and frankincense essential oils for a deeply grounding winter ritual. Layer Argan oil generously on damp skin and seal with shea butter.
